WE-cycle Basics

WE-cycle is designed for short, transit-oriented trips. Whether you want to get to the bus faster or make a one-way trip across town, WE-cycle is there for you.

The first 30-minutes are free, for every ride you take. After 30 minutes, Late Fees are: + $0.50 per minute for pedal bikes and + $5.00 per minute for e-bikes.

Interested in longer rides? Rent from a bike shop.

Use the Web App

You may sign up, unlock a bike, and see your rider account with the WE-cycle web app on your smartphone. Visit we-cycle.org from your mobile device to automatically access this simple, on-stop spot for riding bikeshare. If you are a visitor, first time WE-cycler, or looking to ride casually, you may prefer using the web app to get rolling.

Ride with Transit

If you ride regularly, you might favor accessing bikeshare through the app, Transit. On Transit, as well as the web app, you can request Unlock Codes and see live-time station and bike availability. Transit is also a great resource for multi-modal transportation users; it connects with RFTA’s schedule and allows you to track real-time bus information.

Keycard Access

You may also ride bikeshare without a smartphone. Carry a keycard for the most reliable bike checkout experience; cell service can be spotty at certain stations. Log into your WE-cycle account to request a keycard or pick one up at any of the following locations:

24/7, keycards on door:

  • WE-cycle Aspen Shop: 465 North Mill Street, Unit 3
  • WE-cycle Carbondale Shop: 695 Buggy Circle, B1

Pedal Bikes

The silver bikes are easy to use, conveniently available throughout our entire system, and completely powered by your pedal strokes.

E-Bikes

WE-cycle e-bikes are Class 1 pedal-assist bikes, meaning that a small electric motor (without a throttle) helps propel you forward - up to speeds of 19 miles per hour. These e-bikes make pedaling even easier, especially when biking uphill. Look for the blue and green e-bikes system-wide.

The Station

All WE-cycle stations are 100% powered by the Colorado sun. Of these, some will automatically recharge the batteries of docked e-bikes. You may checkout or dock any bike at any WE-cycle station.

The Dock

A bike’s parking place. Look to the keypad, at the left of each bike, for implementing your checkout mode of choice - this is where you insert your keycard or type your Unlock Code.

Rules of the Road

Please practice bike safety when riding WE-cycle. Be courteous, share the road, and obey all traffic laws, signs, and signals. See the City of Aspen's quick Tips & Tricks for bike safety and click here to learn more about rules of the road for bicyclists in Colorado.

Stay right: go with the flow of traffic, be visible on the road, and ride in the bike lane.

Use the roadway: keep off sidewalks and pedestrian malls. Respect rules of the road and pedestrians.

Plan your route: identify the station at the end of your ride and how you will get there.

Ride predictably: use hand signals and make eye contact with drivers. Announce yourself to pedestrians by using the bike bell or your voice.

Ride with care: wear a helmet and check your speed. E-bikes, especially, are zippy!
