Common Questions

How to sign up and ride?
WE-cycle is accessible via smartphone at we-cycle.org or the app Transit. The WE-cycle website is a great option for the occasional user, while Transit may be preferred by those who ride bikeshare frequently. Once a user creates an account, they may immediately request an Unlock Code and check out a bike.

Can users ride WE-cycle to Aspen?
Users should take RFTA when traveling to Aspen and they will have a WE-cycle ready for them there. WE-cycle is intended for short, transit-oriented trips in and around town.

If users are enjoying our WE-cycle e-bikes and want to take a longer, more leisurely, or exploratory ride, they are encouraged to rent from a local bikeshop.

What can a rider do if the station where they want to return a bike is full?
The rider must find a nearby station with available docking points and return the bike there. They may reference the map on Transit or we-cycle.org to identify nearby stations with open docks. The rider remains responsible for any bike checked out to their account until it is successfully locked in a WE-cycle station.

How many bikes can be checked out at a time?
For liability reasons, we can only allow riders to take out one bike per account. If a user would like to check out multiple bikes for their group, each rider must create their own account.

How are e-bikes charged?
WE-cycle e-bikes are charged when docked at particular e-bikeshare charging stations , some of which are solar powered. Our system will automatically lock bikes that do not have enough power for a 30-minute ride.

What if a rider finds a bike with a problem?
They should return the bike to the closest available dock and press the wrench button. A red light will appear on the dock so no other rider can use the bike until it is repaired.

A rider returned a bike to a station, but the timer on the bike kept running. Is their trip still open?
A trip, and the timer, end when a bike is properly returned which means seeing the green light. If a rider is able to get another Unlock Code then the previous trip has officially ended.
